Most of the buildings we work on already exist, and most of them were built to standards well below what we would expect today. A large part of our environmental work is therefore unglamorous but effective: improving the fabric of existing properties so they hold heat, cost less to run and are more comfortable to occupy.
On new build projects, we work with the design team to deliver schemes that meet current standards and account for how the building will perform once occupied.

Our approach
How we think about environmental performance on a project.
Fabric first
The cheapest energy is the energy a building never uses. We start with insulation, glazing and airtightness before looking at what sits on top of them — it delivers more for the budget and reduces running costs over the long term.
Practical, not performative
We focus on measures that make a measurable difference to how a building performs in use. Where an option won't pay back for a client, we say so rather than adding it to a specification.
Specialist input where needed
Battery storage, EV charging and site energy are specialist disciplines. We work alongside trusted partners with that capability rather than claiming it as our own.
Specialist energy capability
Battery energy storage, EV charging infrastructure and construction-site energy are specialist fields. Where a project calls for them, we work alongside DropBox Green Energy Solutions, giving clients access to that capability alongside our own construction delivery.
